2008 Reunion Photos---Friday Sept 26

This speech was given by Melinda Ray Galliart as each float came out onto the field

Welcome to the 2008 Football Homecoming activities. Tonight we celebrate a true homecoming as we "Remember The Kats! " Please join me as we give honor and respect to those great Kats that have walked these halls before us, studied hard in the classrooms, encouraged their teammates upon the courts and each challenge with dignity right here upon this field. Tonight they not only bring with them memories from the past but they also bring with them a sense of loyalty and pride to their alma mater. They join us tonight representing their classmates from the 1930's to the present 2008 graduating class.

The 1930's and 40's faced different challenges than we do today. Not only was there a war going on but they
also faced the great depression. Many of our young men left home to go defend our country. Alumni from
the 1930's and 1940's we say thank you for your dedication!

The 1950's brought about a quieter time from sock hops to rock and roll being born. It was said about the "Swingin Sixties" that "If you can remember them then you weren't really there." I am sure that was not the case for and of our Chase Kat Alumni!!! 1950's and 1960's we honor you tonight!

The 70's was known as the "hippie culture". Everybody wanted to just "give peace a chance". War had once more taken our boys from home. That decade also saw the end of the Vietnam War which gave us all the reason to celebrate! The 8o's are best known as the "Me, me ,me" era or "You can have it all".  Hey, does that mean we were selfish 1980's Alumni? The music industry really took off in the 80's and that music is still very popular today. But, what about Disco? I don't know! Thank you 70's and 80's for your dedication and hard work.

Then came the 90's and the turn of the century. Technology really began to play a part in our homes and schools. MSN, Facebook along with texting and laptops became the norm in every household. What about just playing outside? NWIM or "Know what I mean for us older folks. Thank you 90's and 2000's for your continuing commitment to CHS

Through the years CHS students have earned and achieved many accomplishments. Too many to tell about in just the  few minutes we have tonight. Many of teams have gone to state over the past years as well as individuals. Students on the honor rolls have been a norm throughout the years at CHS. Many students have achieved high honors due to their hard work and dedication here at CHS.

So tonight Kats of the past, this is your night! We Remember The Kats and we honor you! To all of you future Kats, we look forward to watching you carry on with the integrity, fight and commitments of those that have come before you.

Thank you to Mr Helm and the CHS staff, class sponsors and to all the students that made this night possible. Thank you to Ed Feil, Max Tharpe, Doug Kizzar and Curt Gillespie for the use of the four wheelers and trailers.

Now on behalf of myself and all the Alumni, we say "Go Chase Kats, cage those Cougars!!'

And we did 70-32!!
